Reason for the Shortage

    • Hikma did not provide a reason for the shortage.
    • FDA is allowing temporary importation of cefotaxime from SteriMax and its distributor Direct Success.

Estimated Resupply Dates

    • SteriMax is temporarily importing cefotaxime 1 gram and 2 gram vials. Product is being distributed through Direct Success.

Safety

    • The barcode on imported product labels may not scan accurately on U.S. systems. Institutions should manually enter the imported product information and verify that the barcode scans accurately.

Alternative Agents & Management

    • FDA is allowing temporary importation of cefotaxime 1 gram and 2 gram vials from SteriMax and its distributor Direct Success. The cefotaxime is supplied by SteriMax from Canada.
